چکیده

Spectrum averaged cross sections for the Zn(n, p)Cu, Zn(n, p)Cu and Y(n, p)Sr reactions were measured using a 14 MeV d(Be) neutron source. In each case a clean radiochemical separation was performed and the radioactivity of the product was determined via highresolution γ -ray spectrometry or anticoincidence β− counting. The cross sections are three to five times higher than with a fission neutron spectrum. It is postulated that at an intense fast spectral neutron source, e.g. a spallation source, it would be advantageous to use an (n, p) reaction: GBq amounts of Cu and Cu could be produced in one hour irradiation and of Sr in about one day irradiation.

Nanotargeted Radionuclides for Cancer Nuclear Imaging and Internal Radiotherapy

Current progress in nanomedicine has exploited the possibility of designing tumor-targeted nanocarriers being able to deliver radionuclide payloads in a site or molecular selective manner to improve the efficacy and safety of cancer imaging and therapy. Radionuclides of auger electron-, alpha-, beta-, and gamma-radiation emitters have been surface-bioconjugated or after-loaded in nanoparticles ...

Management options for food production systems contaminated as a result of a nuclear accident

In the event of a nuclear accident, the imposition of mandatory intervention levels for foodstuffs could result in substantial quantities of agricultural produce being considered unfit for human consumption. Milk is important in this respect due to the continuous nature of its production and the rapid transfer of radionuclides from pasture to milk. A five-year research project funded jointly by...

Dosimetric analysis for the selection of radionuclides in bone pain palliation targeted therapy: A Monte Carlo simulation

Introduction:The use of beta emitters is one of the effective methods for palliation of bone metastasis. The risk of normal tissue toxicity should be evaluated in the bone pain palliation treatment. Methods: In this study, the Monte Carlo simulation code MCNPX was used for simulation a bone phantom model consisted of bone marrow, bone and soft tissue. Spe...

Enhanced production of valerenic acids and valepotriates by in vitro cultures of Valeriana officinalis L.

Valerian (Valeriana officinalis L.) is an important medicinal plant that is widely exploited for its roots and rhizomes which contain valepotriates and valerenic acids (with putative pharmacological activities). Thus root proliferation of valerian is very important. The aim of this study was to establish a practical tissue culture method for rapid and large-scale induction of V. officinalis L. ...

Development of 153Sm/177Lu-EDTMP as a possible therapeutic complex

Introduction:Targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) has been demonstrated to be an effective therapeutic tool in patients with disseminated bone metastasis. TRT is generally performed with a single radionuclide. In this study we investigated the feasibility of combined TRT with a high-energy beta emitter (153Sm) and a low energy beta emitter (177Lu) in wistar...
